In the last 10 years, research in Language Technology has left the laboratory and has begun to make a significant commercial impact: many new startups are centred on this technology. Activity is intense in both Europe and the US. Almost every major international IT company is pursuing developments in the area.

At the Centre for Language Technology, our goal is to enhance the presence of Language Technology in Australia, with particular regard to the practical applications of the technology. One of the ways in which we do this through collaboration with industrial partners.

Our teaching program in Language Technology is supported by key players in Australia's emerging language technology industry. We also carry out consultancy work and collaborative research and development with industry partners.
