Abstract:
Occasionaly, we query the Web and get just what we want - an information retrieval success story! Many other times we get information we don't want, that we have seen before, that is out of date, and particularly, is not provided in the form that would be useful.
How can we move beyond? Better retrieval will not solve the problem, so we need techniques that better model the user, their need, and their desired answer. This talk will give examples of better delivery, discuss the research that is being carried out to achieve this and discuss the directions of this research.
