Abstract:
This talk is about the issues involved in relating text to the acoustic speech signal. The difficulties that arise when relating these two forms are presented in the context of various projects the speaker has been involved in; namely, a talking dictionary, a computer based speech therapy aid, and the analysis of Australian vowels.
